How about just something cool?

I didn't make them.

But in one of the rare moments when I have and use cash to make a purchase, got these as change.

Real silver.  Cashier handed back the change, 67 cents worth, and I heard that distinct 'clink'.  If you've ever handled real silver coins, you'll know what I mean.  Modern change sounds so very different from the real silver.

One is from 1942, the other 1948. Both are pretty worn and tarnished.  I'm guessing some kid raided his grandpa's change jar--when I worked as a cashier I saw that happen often.  But back then, I bought those quarters out of the register myself!  I'm a tad surprised that didn't happen with these, unless the cashier just didn't know?  Given the condition, they're unlikely to be worth a whole lot more than $3 or $4 each, but still...That's more than I was spending to get them as change!

Anyway.  My cool thing for today!

That is cool. Funny to get two from the same transaction.

I was really tempted to ask if there were more in the till I could buy!

The cashier would have likely looked at you cross-eyed as they handed you the receipt. I used to buy $2 bills as well out of the till when I would work at anyplace that handled money.
